Mit fast zwei Tagen Verspätung konnten wir endlich Claudia's Gepäck in Empfang nehmen und freuten uns zusätzlich riesig auf den 6. Juli, um endlich unser erstes Ziel in Angriff zu nehmen: Rapa Nui. Man braucht fast 5 Stunden Flug auf den isoliertesten bewohnten Fleck der Erde.
Wir verbrachten sechs wunderschöne Tage auf Rapa Nui begleitet von etlichen Hochs und Tiefs. Warum? Nun ja - mit Claudia und mir haben sich 2 ziemliche Chaoten gefunden die ein paar Mal ihre Sachen verloren. Da das Glück aber bei den Deppen liegt, haben wir alles wieder bekommen (auch Dank der lässigen und ehrlichen Einstellung der Inselbewohner). Schlafsack, Pulli, Handy, Geldtasche - alles war mal woanders und fand doch wieder den Weg zu uns zurück.
Rapa Nui gehört zwar politisch zu Chile, geographisch jedoch zu Polynesien. Rapa Nui ist wie eine andere Welt und unterscheidet sich teilweise sehr von Chile. Die Leute sind unfassbar nett, helfen dir bei allem und anders als in Chile gibt es so gut wie keine Kriminalität (deswegen haben wir auch unser ganzes Zeug wieder bekommen; nicht so wie in Santiago beispielsweise, wo einem das Radl geklaut wird, das am Baum mit dem U-Lock abgesperrt war. Wie? Einfach den Baum abschneiden und das Rad mitnehmen). Die Einstellung der Inselbewohner ist bemerkenswert positiv und optimistisch (es beschwert sich fast keiner und alle sind „buena onda“). Natur und Tierwelt werden sehr wertgeschätzt, man findet nirgends Müll und sollte man mal eine Bierdose am Strand liegen sehen, ist diese nach spätestens einer Stunde im Mülleimer gelandet.
Viele Orte haben wir mithilfe von hitchhiken erkundet und dadurch auch super tolle Menschen mit ihren spannenden Geschichten kennen gelernt. Eine von den vielen guten Seelen, Renato, hat uns nach einer 5-Minuten-Autofahrt-Kennenlern-Aktion am nächsten Tag gleich auf eine Führung eingeladen. Renato ist Touristenführer/Ranger (ganz Rapa Nui ist ein Nationalpark) und hat uns Poike, einem Ort wo man nur mit Guide hindarf, gezeigt. Er hat kein Geld verlangt. Er macht sowas gerne im Sinne der Freundschaft, hat uns 5 Stunden seiner wertvollen Zeit geschenkt und uns zu Orten geführt, wo man als „Touri“ eigentlich gar nicht hindarf.
Für uns ist Rapa Nui ein magischer Ort mit viel positiver Energie, den wir nur schweren Herzens verlassen haben. Fast wären wir sogar auf der Insel geblieben, da wir beinahe unseren Flug verpasst hätten (wieder mal aufgrund unserer Verplantheit).
Natürlich freuen wir uns auch wieder auf Santiago, wo es währenddessen in den naheliegenden Skigebieten geschneit hat, um endlich unser Skiabenteuer zu beginnen.

After almost two days we finally managed to get a hold of Claudia’s luggage and got very excited for our first destination: Rapa Nui. It takes about a 5 hours flight to get to the most isolated still populated spot on earth.
We stayed for 6 days on this precious island and these days were accompanied by many ups and downs. Why? Well because Claudia and me are pretty chaotic – we were losing stuff on a daily basis but somehow managed to get everything back (which is largely due because of the great, honest, easy-going mindset of the island inhabitants). Sleeping bag, sweater, cellphone and even wallet were at one point roaming the island without us, but all returned within a short period of time.
Politically Rapa Nui belongs to Chile, but geographically it belongs to Polynesia. Rapa Nui seems to be from another world and differs at times greatly from the rest of Chile. The people are incredibly nice, helpful and unlike Chile – Rapa Nui has almost no crime (that's one of the reasons why we got all our stuff back - Santiago is a different story, where even your bike, locked with a big U-Lock, gets stolen! How? Just cut down the tree and take the bicycle with you). The island inhabitants have a positive and optimistic mentality (you hardly hear someone complaining and everyone seems to be „buena onda“). Nature and Wildlife are deeply cherished – it's hard to find any trash and if you do it will likely be gone within the next hour.
We managed to explore many places through hitchhiking, which was a great opportunity in itself to meet many fantastic people and to listen to their fascinating stories. One of these amazing persons, Renato, offered us a guided tour just after a 5-minute-hitchhike-getting to know each other-ride to Poike, a place you can only visit with a guide. He does this for friendship, he gave us 5 hours of his precious time, wanted no money and showed us places you can't normally visit as a tourist.
To us Rapa Nui is a magical place, with great positive energy all around. We had a hard time leaving this beautiful island and even almost stayed there (because we almost missed our flight – we should call ourselves chaos production xD).
Needless to say we are looking forward to be back on the continent (in our absence it was snowing there :D) to start our ski adventure.
